Free Storage Space different from System Information

Good day,

I have noticed on my M1 Macbook Pro, that the free storage(available) which is seen from About This Mac --> Storage (154.99Gb free) is not consistent if you check on System Information (149.8GB free) as seen on the Screen Shot attached.

Is this normal or do I need to fresh install Mac Os?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.4

Check your disk space using Disk Utility. Discrepancies you're seeing is nothing more than differences in reporting algorithms; DU is the definitive reporting.

Per Apple, Purgeable space is usable space that will be allocated for use as needed. It you delete a large amount of data, P-space will be roughly equal to that amount. Over time, a large portion of it will be "freed up" and returned as usable space you can see. It's just Apple's way.

Strange to me but has never really been a problem. The paid version of DaisyDisk can force the return of purgeable to "normal" free space.
