If you have already consulted the technicians at an Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP), you will have already received expert analysis of your iPad’s health - and potential repairability. As described, diagnostics indicate that the iPad is beyond redemption.

As such, other than offering virtual “tea and sympathy”, there is really little else to offer in the way of advice or additional steps for recovery. Anything that can be offered here will very likely repeat anything that has already been tried - and will achieve nothing.

While many devices do last for many years, some can and will reach an early demise - for any number of potential reasons.

An out of warranty repair, if possible (this likely being discussed when you visited the Apple Store with your iPad) will typically cost c.60% of the “as new” cost of your iPad when originally purchased. Given this high cost relative to that of purchasing a new iPad - is perhaps unlikely to be an economic proposition.

Thanks LotusPilot for answering. I was offered a recon model with 90 days warranty in exchange for mine for £250. Advised better to buy new. I am a 78 year old and light user , mainly for sudoko and crosswords and similar puzzles to keep my mind active so would have expected it to last a lot longer. I still have my 1st iPad, the original, and although slow and not updateable still works. Well over 10 years old.

What was annoying, I bought from a supplier that offered 2 years cover , bought early May 2020 so it was only out of that by 3 weeks.

Looks like I will have to look into a new tablet. Not sure it will be an iPad this time though, as I feel let down.

Sadly for some, electronics and electrical devices may suffer a failure just outside of the defined warranty period - this being true whether then warranty is for one year, two or ten - Apple or otherwise. Naturally, if and when this occurs, many will feel upset.

For the majority who have devices that just plod on, seemingly forever, we are perhaps less prone to highlighting our good fortune.

Sorry, but you’ve just been unlucky…
