Ringtone and text tone keeps changing on iPad and iPhone

i have assigned ringtones and text tones for certain people. When I set it on my iPad, it changes on my iPhone to a default ring and text tone. If I set it on my iPhone, it changes my iPad back to a default. I have downloaded the purchased tones multiple times. Why am I not able to use the same tones for individuals on my iPad and iPhone at the same time?

If the tones/ringtones are changing unexpectedly on your devices, let’s first ensure you’re following the steps outlined in the ‘Set a ringtone or text tone for a contact’ section here: Use tones and ringtones with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch


If these are the steps you are using, are you using the same Apple ID on both devices? Let’s update both devices to the latest version of iOS/iPadOS as well. This shows how: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

It sounds like this only happens with purchased tones. Right? If you can see the same tones on both devices, these tones should sync, you're right. Since that's not happening, it may be best to contact Apple Support for further help. You can reach out from Get Support or using the direct phone number for your region from Contact Apple for support and service.
