All windows have become oversized for the screen - MacBook Pro 2013/OS 11.6

Just in the past couple of days I've started having a problem where all open windows suddenly enlarge and all that were sized to fit my screen limits are now all too big for the screen.

It's like being zoomed in but it's not just the page content that zooms - the whole window enlarges past screen limits.

When I try to zoom out I just see a tiled display of open pages.

Haven't changed settings anywhere, can't find anything in Preferences that will address this.

If I Restart everything goes back to normal until it happens again.

Any clues??

(Having issues with wake up from sleep, restarts as well. SMC resets don't help. Don't know that would be related, just saying.)

Hello Space-D,

It sounds like you have a few issues. One with the apps or windows showing up larger than the screen size and issues waking the Mac from sleep. We'll do our best to assist with these.

For the issues with the windows opening, could it be opening the app in full screen mode: Use apps in full screen on Mac - Apple Support or see: Manage app windows on Mac - Apple Support

Maximize or minimize app windows

On your Mac, do any of the following in a window:
- Maximize a window: Press and hold the Option key while you click the green button  in the top-left corner of an app window. To return to the previous window size, Option-click the button again.

You can also double-click an app’s title bar to maximize the window (as long as the option to do so is set to “zoom” in Dock & Menu Bar preferences).

- Minimize a window: Click the yellow minimize button  in the top-left corner of the window, or press Command-M.

You can set an option in Dock & Menu Bar preferences to have a window minimize when you double-click its title bar.

Most windows can be manually resized. Drag the window’s edge (top, bottom, or sides) or double-click an edge to expand that side of the window.

Have you changed your Mac's screen resolution at all? As this may cause the entire screen to be larger than expected.
