Voicemail notifications without having a voicemail box

I am with a new provider, and they have assured me my voicemail mailbox is not set up, which is what I want. I do not use voicemail. I cannot leave myself a message on voicemail, as it is not setup. All that said, I frequently get notifications that I have a new voicemail. I do not see how this is possible since I can't even leave myself a voicemail message.

Unsure how to resolve this. I don't care about the voicemail constantly showing there are "messages" but I would like to stop the alerts when the ghost voicemail "arrives".
