Network preference not responding and no Wi-fi unless I restart.

Hello,

My laptop is a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) and it is currently Mojave Version 10.14.6. Bought this MacBook in 2017.

The issues I will be describing will be lengthy so bear it with me, please!

Issue 1

My MacBook occasionally disconnects and reconnects the internet. This has been happening for the longest time. The problem lies in the laptop and not my router, because my phone and PC have a stable connection. I've tried USB tethering and it has provided stable connection but I do not want to rely on my phone all the time. I've searched many solutions on the internet and nothing was good on my end. I've updated the OS from High Sierra to Mojave and doesn't solve it. I also booted into safe mode or used a guest account and the problem still persists. Network diagnosis doesn't really do much for me as well. If it can't be fixed then it's probably a hardware issue that I can't do much about. Reseting SMC and PRAM doesn't do the trick aswell.

Issue 2 (major issue)

At the start of the week by the time I posted this, I've encountered another Wi-fi problem which is much worse than the problem described in 1 and I would like to get this issue fixed ASAP. What happens is that my Wi-fi suddenly stops and if I try to hover my cursor on the wi-fi symbol on the menubar and click, the cursor becomes the spinning rainbow wheel. Only the right side of the menu bar is not responsive except for the spotlight search. I checked on the activity monitor and it shows that the systemuiserver is not responding so I force quit to start it up again. There's no more rainbow wheel but will happen again if I click on the wifi symbol and it doesn't seem to fix the problem. The only temporary fix to this is to restart my laptop but I do not want to keep restarting whenever the wifi stopped working. I would like to point out that this issue is intermittent.

After I restart just to get the wifi working, I just browse the browser and wait until the wifi stopped. Then, I checked the Network on system preference and I noticed that everything on the network preference is blank. However, I can't do anything on it like clicking + or something. I then check the activity monitor and it shows that the network preference is not responding. So I decided to force quit that but it still doesn't fix the problem.

The image above is basically what is going on. I've also looked for solutions on the internet and the closest that has similar problem to mine is the following link: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7315709

Unfortunately, I've followed the instruction and it doesn't fix the issue. Once again, ive booted in safe mode and the issue still persists. Guest account doesn't help aswell. Resetting SMC and PRAM doesn't either.

I even reinstall the OS and it still doesn't fix the problem for both issue 1 and 2.

I do not want to upgrade my OS to monterey because I fear that it may invite more problem, given that my Macbook is getting old and I don't want to take a risk.

I am at my wits end and I feel like my laptop has been cursed with some badluck. Please help!

I've been debugging a problem with my VPN client constantly reconnecting, along with poor WiFi performance. After much digging, I came across an excellent article - although written for Yosemite and iOS8, it still seems to be relevant to Mojave, especially with a newer WiFi chip in the 2018 MacBook Pro. https://medium.com/@mariociabarra/wifriedx-in-depth-look-at-yosemite-wifi-and-awdl-airdrop-41a93eb22e48

The author wrote a program that essentially just issues a command and keeps it enforced. You can try it manually in a terminal window: sudo ifconfig awdl0 down

To reverse the command, type: sudo ifconfig awdl0 up

He gives a great technical explanation, so I won't repeat it here. The command disables a virtual network interface that's used for ad-hoc WiFi by features like Airdrop; I personally won't miss them. So far, I've gone from losing my connection 20 times an hour to being stable for 3+ hours.

Start with this..

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

We need to see what all is running, a report from this will not display any personal info...

EtreCheck is a FREE simple little diagnostic tool to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac. It will not display any personal info.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report if you capture the URL while there…

https://pastebin.com/

Whew, they've changed pastebin & made it harder, but after pasting in, click Create new paste button, then Embed button, then copy the URL...

<script src="https://pastebin.com/embed_js/KuvnghqA"></script>

The important part of the above is...

https://pastebin.com/embed_js/KuvnghqA

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...

I am very grateful for you spending time to help with my issue.

I've done what you asked about safe boot but I did it once again. After a while (I didn't keep track of time sorry) and the problem still occur.

I then went back into the main boot and installed EtreCheck, ran the scan and copied the report into the Pastebin.

Here is the following report.

I just wanted to point out that the unsigned files are simply small coding projects from the past so I doubt those are part of the problem.
