Apple TV app missing Japanese subtitles

On both my smart tv & my Roku there japanese doesn’t even show up as an available subtitle language. However they do have spoken japanese available. On my ios devices (phone/iPad) japanese is available as a subtitle language. Reading apples documentation, japanese should be available for all versions of the app in the USA. What gives?

Hi MichaelB2019,

I have also made sure Apple TV and Roku Smart TV are all updated and I am having the exact same issue.

Asian subtitles (including Japanese and Korean) are not appearing on Apple TV on Roku TV even though they appear on all other devices (iOS, PS5, etc).

It seems Roku TV is not recognizing the Asian character sets and ignoring them. Is there anyway you can get in touch with the engineering team for a fix?

Japanese, Chinese, Korean. Not even an option to select in the subtitles menu. I called support & they transferred me around for 2 hours to 4-5 different people & none of them know what was wrong. I have Japanese subtitles working on multiple other apps on both my Roku & Vizio tv which uses a built in chromecast. This is definitely a problem with the Apple TV app. Thai is available & that doesn’t use English characters, I can airplay from my iPad or iPhone & it will have Japanese subtitles, but the quality makes it unwatchable. You guys just need to admit there’s a problem with the app on non iOS devices & get it fixed.
