You'll have to update your macOS to update the Contacts app.

If your OS is up to date, then the only way to get the newer version of Contacts will be to upgrade the macOS to a current version, probably Big Sur or Monterey, if your Mac is capable.

Why do you wish to update the Contacts app?

Use Software Update to update or upgrade macOS, including built-in apps like Safari.

Please see >: Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

❗️ Do NOT upgrade until you have made a Time Machine or other backup of your startup drive.

Thank you for you answer, D.I.

The reason for upgrading is as simple as the capacity of the app to detect the new phone numbering in the international network. Namely, the v. 11 displays correctly an American or German phone number, but as soon it is a numeration that was not adopted before I-don't-know-which-year, it groupes all the digits in a bunch, not very practical for use. Apart from this, the v.11 suits me perfectly.

And my machine could not accept the newer OS.
