My iPhone is using internal mic for Calls, Voice memos etc instead of using the external mic

Hi everyone, So i have recently bought an iphone and the problem is that i have tried the original Apple Earpods (Lightning) and the headphone jack adapter but my iphone is using internal mic for Calls,Voice memos etc instead of using the external mic. Please help.

When you make a call, is it possible to tick on the loudspeaker icon on your screen and tick that, can you select the EarPods there?
