Apple Pay double click side button

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. What happens when you try to use Assistive Touch to pay using Apple Pay? Are you getting any errors?

To get started, let's make sure Assistive Touch is set up on your iPhone as follows:

Set up AssistiveTouch

Siri: Say something like: “Turn on AssistiveTouch” or “Turn off AssistiveTouch.” Learn how to ask Siri.

Or do the following:

-Go to Settings  > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch.

-Turn on AssistiveTouch.

-To customize AssistiveTouch, tap any of the following:

-Customize Top Level Menu: Tap an icon to change its action. Tap  or  to change the number of icons in the menu. The menu can have up to eight icons.

-Single-Tap, Double-Tap, Long Press, or 3D Touch: Assign custom actions that run when you interact with the menu button. 3D Touch is available only on supported iPhone models.

-Create New Gesture: Add your favorite gestures.

-Idle Opacity: Adjust the visibility of the menu button when not in use.

-Confirm with AssistiveTouch: On an iPhone with Face ID, confirm payments with Face ID by using AssistiveTouch instead of double-clicking the side button.

Tip: To turn AssistiveTouch on or off quickly, triple-click the side button (on an iPhone with Face ID) or triple-click the Home button (on other iPhone models).

How to turn on AssistiveTouch on your Apple Watch

Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.

Tap Accessibility, then tap AssistiveTouch.

Tap AssistiveTouch to turn it on, then tap OK to confirm. Or you can tap Try It Out to see a visual introduction.

You can also turn on and customize all the AssistiveTouch features in the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

Use the Confirm with AssistiveTouch feature

You can use AssistiveTouch to perform a double click on your Apple Watch side button, such as when you confirm a payment using Apple Pay or unlock your Mac.

Here's how to turn on the feature:

Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.

Tap Accessibility > AssistiveTouch.

Tap Confirm with AssistiveTouch, then tap Continue.

Double click the side button, then type your passcode.

Double click the side button again to confirm.

After you turn on this feature, you can confirm an Apple Pay payment using the action menu, or unlock your Mac with a double clench.
