1987 Mac SE

anyone tec savy on a 1987 Mac S

Unfortunately these are not chat rooms. People volunteer on a time-available basis and are your fellow users, not Apple employees. We cannot email you. Also it is a holiday weekend in the US so there are typically fewer responders


There are few people still fluent in "SE" but one may come along aft erht holiday.


All I remember about our SE/30 is that some suffered from defective Quantum Fireball hard drives of 40 and 80MB capacity:


  • Symptom: Computer powers up but will not boot.
  • Totally unofficial yet effective workaround: Tune the computer upside done and try booting. If you get a boot retire tothe computer to normal orientation and leave it running.
  • Cause: bad bearings used by Quantum. Upending the computer takes a tiny bit of load off the lower platter bearing, enough to let it start.



for some stupid reason I keep getting denied access.


That could be from trying to use this as Chat. There are anti-pam measures in place that limit how many posts a minute one can make.
