MacBook pro early 2015 w/ Monterey 12.4

Hello,

I've noticed that since updating to monterey, my MBP no longer displays screen/keyboard brightness indicator bars as shown in image attached. How can I resolve this?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

To clarify, the buttons for both the screen brightness and keyboard backlight work accordingly. What stopped working is the bar indicator that appears when pressing the button as displayed below. Before, the bar gradient indicator would display level of brightness when buttons were pressed. Now, the image below is what shown every time the buttons are pressed. Resetting the SMC did not resolve the issue.

If no resolve I would reinstall the macOS on top of your existing macOS to sort anomalies not easily isolated...

this will leave your user data untouched. Choose wisely, a current backup is always recommended.

That appears to be Keyboard back light—

Have you rebooted more than once since your upgrade, that would be step one.

then verify the ambient light is not so strong as to shut it down

this would be >System Preferences>Keyboard

I will say it does not look like what I would expect to see, if ambient light was strong.

On a Intel Mac I would suggest you reset the SMC How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

and compare your results.
