Hi guys, I have this iPhone 8 Plus from a friend that has been dropped in water at a party sometime last night. When I got home it was in recovery mode and I followed the basic steps of restoring/updating it through itunes but even after several attempts, it was going straight back to the recovery screen. Please send through any help if you can, I dont know if its worth trying to fix if the hardware is messed up.

If the iPhone is continuing to return to recovery mode, you may need to check to see if this could be related to liquid damage. For assistance with this, check out the following resource: Water and other liquid damage to iPhone or iPod isn't covered by warranty - Apple Support
With the restore and update from recovery mode, did you see that the download completed and installed on the iPhone, or did the iPhone return to the recovery screen? If you didn't see the process complete, you may need to initiate this again as the iPhone can exit recovery mode if the download takes longer than expected.
If you're still unable to clear this up, Contact Apple Support to check into service options with you.

I would imagine it would be the water damage to be honest
