High Sierra - clicking on dock application causes dialog box to open

I have no idea as to how I caused this, but cant seem to find a way to reverse this behaviour.

Clicking on an application in the dock causes the application to open - as well as an additional dialog box.

I dont want the dialog box to open - just the application (see screenshots).

When logged into a different user account, clicking on an application in the dock causes the application to open only, not the additional dialog box - the way I would prefer it.

So clearly this is a setting within my user account only, but I have no idea as to where this setting may be.

Howdy,

Thanks to ASC and dialabrain, I found a cause for this and verified it with QuickTime Player and Preview.

From the post, "Either disable iCloud Drive or open its options and disable Preview, TextEdit, QuickTime Player etc."

With these settings, Preview will launch with its Open Dialog box but QuickTime Player will not.

FYI, the solution was posted in OS X El Capitan, but I tested with macOS High Sierra 10.13.6
