Finding the macOS On a MacBook Air:

  1. Go to: Apple menu
  2. Select: About This Mac(the-top item)***
  3. View: Top two lines

If you are looking for the version number for the macOS installation you are running, see the above response by TheLittles.


If you are looking for the actual macOS software, its what your Mac is running on. Everything you see on your Mac screen, things you click on, actions, etc.. is macOS. It's the Operating system that makes your Mac work.
