I think it's a bug with iOS 15.5. Have the same problem. After a factory reset it worked again the day before yesterday. After one day the same problem. A forced restart (not a normal one) helped. And today for the third time, nothing helps.

There are now a few posts of this nature in this forum. Would be a big coincidence if suddenly all TrueDepth sensors are broken. I think it is a software bug.

I don’t speculate on what might work, but rather suggest a solution that actually does work.
