Do not disturb notification stays on text thread

I’m having an issue where someone uses Focus and the notification does not go away in their text thread after they turn it off. So it looks like they still have it on when they do not.

I’ve tried turning my phone on and off, exiting messages, checking with them (it’s off). It stays stuck on my phone telling me they are in Do Not Disturb mode but they are not.

how do I fix this? And yes, my phone is updated completely.

thx!

Got it. We appreciate the update.

Are both devices updated to the newest iOS? The new one is iOS 15.5. Please update if either one is running an older version as that may help: Update iOS on iPhone - Apple Support

Then, let's see if you can check Settings on both devices to ensure the following:

  1. Turn Share Across Devices is on under Settings > Focus
  2. Turn on one of the default Focus states, such as Do Not Distrub
  3. Wait a few seconds, then turn that Focus stat off
  4. Send another message and see if that helps.

If you're still having issues, see what happens when you go to Settings > Messages and turn off Focus under Allow Messages to Access. Does that change the behavior? What happens if you enable that again?

If you continue to have issues after that, Contact Apple Support for additional troubleshooting as they may be able to look at your issue a bit deeper.

Hope that helps!

Hello flyingyogini,

Are you experiencing this behavior with multiple contacts, or just a particular one?

Are you still able to send messages to the contact when this occurs?

Also, is anyone else experiencing the same behavior with an affected contact?

Hopefully those details will help to isolate this further so we can provide the best guidance possible.

Take care.

-One contact

-his other contacts do not see the do not disturb message in their text threads

-he can still get my messages and it shows he’s turned it off, messages get delivered immediately

  • I get told in text thread “message delivered quietly” but it is actually delivered normally. And I get the option to notify anyway.

so it’s as if he turns on the option (he does) but when he turns it off my phone does not notice or get notified even though everyone else does
