Printing to HP Laserjet M110we through Monterey 12.4

Both Apple and HP claim this printer is AirPrint compatible, but I spent 4 hours on Applecare+ and they couldn’t get the printer to print.

Is there a generic print driver that can operate a simple printer like this since HP hasn’t provided any drivers yet?

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 12.4

Hi,

An AirPrint-enabled model should be compatible with macOS Monterey without additional drivers, provided that the printer and the computer are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router). The HP LaserJet M110we is listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support.

However, this printer seems to require an active Internet connection and setup via HP Smart. Also, have you checked that the latest printer firmware has been installed?

If you need to download software, make sure that it is from an official web site for the printer manufacturer, or from another trustworthy source such as Apple.

If it is listed as AirPrint printer, delete the existing printer in

> System Preferences> Printers & Scanners, and add it again, select AirPrint.

If you can't find an updated driver for your printer give the open-source, free Gutenprint driver a try.

I will add—if this fails you— from the browser interface you can interact with CUPS directly through your browser

CUPS management: http://localhost:631/admin/

if you see no interface then from the Terminal.app simply enter this command line, copy&paste :

cupsctl WebInterface=yes

and try again the local link.

That driver is for Windows computers. There is none for Mac as it's AirPrint compatible.
