Profile picture on lock screen not showing.

I followed the instructions on " https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/change-a-users-login-picture-mtusr002/11.0/mac/11.0 " but when I click on my name in the left column there is no picture or information on the right side. I did not have any issues until after the last software update macOS Monterey 12.4. I opened the contacts card and clicked on my name and changed the picture but that did not fix the issue of no picture on the lock screen. Also, each time I tried that process it creates another contact for me. My name on the contacts card is there 5 times now.

MacBook Air (2020 or later)

Update: I chatted with Apple support and was able to resolve the issue. When I open system preferences - users & groups, the only thing that showed in the right hand column of that screen was my name. There was no edit option showing until I hovered my mouse just left of my name and then edit showed. I don't understand why the edit option wouldn't always be visible instead of hiding. Seems quite strange. Thanks for the help!

BTW: I figured out safe mode, but it did not help.

Have you tried clicking on the blank image in Users and Groups and editing on that rather than open Contacts?

Have you tried changing it in Safe Mode? Start up your Mac in safe mode – Apple Support (AU)

You can just delete the 5 contact cards.

Does the User ( you ) have other Apple Devices using the same Apple ID and all devices are using iCloud ?

Do the other devices also have a Blank User ID Picture ?

As I said, when I open users and groups there is no picture in the right column to click on. When I open contacts, the correct picture is there. I don't understand why I would need to boot in safe mode. Everything was fine until the last software update. Thank you for responding though.

I can say I have three Apple computers of various ages and all are using the same Apple ID and all are using iCloud with all the iCloud options enabled. Also have an iPhone 12 too

The user iD photo from the oldest computer synced to all the newer computers and iPhone

I have a MacBook Air, iPad Air, and iPhone 12 and all use the same email address cloud account. The picture on the lock screen is not a big issue for me, but it is something that started after my last software update. This is only an issue on the MacBook Air.
