unable to write to the last block of the device -69760

I have a new M.2 SSD SHL-R320 (type-c; usb 3.1; 16 TB). It works on Windows without problem. But it does not work on MACOS. If I format it on Windows as "exFAT"; it does not work on MacOS. If I format it on Windows as "NTFS"; it works on MacOS as "readable only) (I can see files and open; but I can not write anything to this SSD.

I have tried almost all solutions recommendations on websites and Youtube (by using "disk utility" and "terminal"; but I could not format it on MacOS. I called customer service; but they could not solve too.

Please see photos.

For the exFAT file system issue make sure to use Disk Utility on your Mac to erase the drive as GUID partition and exFAT. When Windows formats a drive using exFAT, Windows may use an incompatible file allocation size which macOS is not able to understand.

For the "unable to write to the last block of the device" error, then I would suggest trying to erase the drive a second time immediately after you receive this error. I have encountered an intermittent issue where Disk Utility will refuse to erase a drive the first time (I don't recall the error), but would succeed if I tried erasing the drive immediately after.

Otherwise, maybe you have an incompatible drive or a bad drive. Not all drives/enclosures are compatible with macOS or Apple hardware. I've never heard of "General UDisk Media" before, so that does not inspire much confidence in my opinion.

My fix for irksome drives is to format NTFS on Windows and then reformat on a Mac. I have no idea why, but every drive I've done that with has worked fine afterwards.

But then we replace HDDs every five years at most so they are not really all that old ... just reached our personal limit.

I also use a bootable GPartEd live CD on the Windows box. With GPartEd you can use Windows to format directly to a Mac format if you want. GPartEd is Gnome Partition Editor and is a free download; I've used it for years.

There's also the possibility of a failed drive.
