Phone number can't be added to Apple ID / verification calls/codes not received (eSIM)

Hi,

I am unable to add my phone number in my AppleID so that I can use for FaceTime & iMessage on my iPhone 13 Pro Max (EU version), because I am not receiving the verification codes and calls. I tried with another phone number which is on the same telecom operator, and the codes are being received.

  1. Could it be the case that because I'm using and eSIM, the SMSC is not set up correctly?
  2. Is there a secret menu / code where I can enter and manually input the SMS Center phone number? (*#5005*7672# doesn't work on iOS 15.5)

Thanks!

See if anything here helps.  If necessary, you can use account recovery as explained in the link at bottom of the article.

Verification code - how to get one and sign in with two-factor authentication.   *

If you can get a code and sign in, you need to change/add the number on your Apple ID. Look in the Security section when signed in online. You may have to add the new number before you can remove the old number. After the change, allow up to 24 hours for the change to sync. Before trying to make the change, sign out of Messages/FaceTime on all devices/computers.
