Hi,
My 2015 macbook pro (monterey) is showing the following images on startup and the cursor is not moving. Any thoughts on what could be causing this and a possible solution?

It appears to be external mouse and trackpad "battery" symbols... Are you connected and using these external peripherals(?)
replace the battery/charge the battery(?)
Recharge the built-in battery in your Apple keyboard, mouse, or trackpad - Apple Support

If you are getting this is in error—
you can Try resetting the SMC How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support
Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
(get at least two-three rounds of the chimes when holding the NRAM Reset)
2015 had the trackpad cable issues—
If your keyboard/Trackpad flex cable has a fault and is failing—
it is asking you to connect a wireless keyboard and mouse to the machine; you can try connecting externally and compare your results.

I did have an external mouse connected last week and the problem seems to have started since then. Only the external keyboard and mouse seem to work.

I tried resetting the SMC but no luck. And now there is a loud sound from what seems to be the fan. Is that expected?
