I’m not able to add documents from my iPad to books. Please help

I’m not able to add documents to my books in my iPad . Is there a limit?

What is the solution to syncing Books with iCloud Drive in this situation?

Syncing books to iPad I had books on my iPad and when i went to sync some new books from my iMac to my iPad all the books that were on my iPad disappeared. Can I do anything to stop this happening again
