Low brightness when streaming Netflix!

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro M1 2021. I noticed that the brightness was strangely low when streaming movies from, Netflix. Especially in darker scenes, everything looks kind of black and it's really hard to spot details like faces, etc. I also noticed, that when minimizing the video playback window (so that I can see the video window and other windows at the same time) and increasing the brightness, the desktop brightness increases but the video window stays the same. It's like everything else gets a lot brighter, except the movie I'm streaming.

However, the interesting thing is that it doesn't happen with youtube videos, only when streaming movies on Netflix. With youtube videos, the brightness is on point, and the video brightness changes with the rest of the desktop, when changing the brightness settings. Any ideas what's going on here?

@leroydouglas,

those links are obviously what I checked first... but there is no help for that problem. It seems like it has to do with HDR... but I don't know what exactly the problem is. Yesterday I watched a movie on Netflix that was HD (only) and it looked just fine... but higher quality movies on Netflix seem to be way too dark. It's so weird.

If anybody can help I would really appreciate it.
