I need numbers on my macbook

It's often as simple as going to the Mac App Store, searching for Numbers, and installing it. Have you tried that?

The best (and Apple Recommended) reply to this question can be found in this post by Viking OS X in the Pages for Mac community: pages, numbers and keynote

The response is to a similar question but a newer version of macOS. The process, though is essentially the same for High Sierra. It does depend on whether you have had Numbers previously installed on your MBPro, though, as Apple does not keep available copies of the full installer for earlier versions.

This issue may have received some changes recently, resulting in simpler solutions.

SGIII's post above and this post: Unable to download Pages/Numbers from App… - Apple Community, by moxita 797 within the past hour or two both describe simpler sets on actions. Don'tbe put off by the title of moxita's post—the post does offer a solution.
