Logic Pro X crashing immediately upon startup. Code 10 Bus error 10

Using Macbook Pro 2020, fully current OS 12.4. Logic Pro X version 10.3.2. It started crashing like this,

maybe an OS update version or two ago, just randomly after working fine for a long time. I was using a midi controller occasionally. It crashes whether or not that's connected, and since the application won't open at all there is no way for me to go in to update the version, change settings, drivers, files, etc.

Any advice?

Hi there, no idea what exactly is causing your LPX 10.3.2 to crash. These error code are useful for software engineers, no doubt, but my eyes glaze over when seeing something like what's displayed on the screenshot you attached. Potentially you could look up the error code by searching for it online, though.

Anyway, since it's macOS Monterey that you're using, I suppose this might be a (not so) "gentle" push towards updating Logic to its current version. There IS a way (and currently the only one) to update Logic and that does not require opening the app itself at all. It's done via App Store app, where you sign in with your Apple ID (the one used to purchase Logic) and it should offer to update Logic to current version.

N.B. Before performing the update, I'd recommend to make a backup copy of the currently installed version of LPX: control / right-click on the app bundle filename (i.e. "Logic Pro X") in Applications folder, then choose "Compress Logic Pro X..." from the context menu that drops down. After it's done, rename the zip-archive file something like "LPX-10.3.2" and copy it somewhere safe. This is to make sure you could revert back to the previous version if something goes wrong after the update. To restore the compressed app, just extract it back to Applications.
