Will an Apple Watch cellular model work with a prepaid SIM plan?

When seting up a Apple Watch in family setup it requires you to set up cellular and in Australia you can use truphone will it work with a prepaid sim because the cellular on the watch is a different plan compared to my phone which is prepaid
