Abort "resume copy" of Desktop folder

Here's my nightmare.

Like these users, I have a folder that's stuck on "resume copy." That is, it's ghosted, and if I open it, I get the options to "finish copying" or "keep resumable copy."

But the folder in question is the desktop folder. So if I click Finish Copying, I get this message:

So I can't finish copying it. But I also can't try the hacks that these guys figured out to abort "resume copy," because the solutions require moving the problem folder somewhere, but I can't move the desktop folder anywhere.

This is bad news and I'm super-stuck. Any ideas??

First try the following:  Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support (for Intel Macs) and Mac startup key combinations - Apple Support (for both types),

Also: How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

If that fails give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
