Set up a gmail account with the mail app

I have an iPad 4th generation, iOS 10.3.3. My email was not updating and the recommendation was to delete the account and then add the account.

When I set up the gmail account, using Google option, I get an Error 403: disallowed_useragent with this comment - "You can't sign in from this screen because this app doesn't comply with Google's secure browsers policy.

Tried to add as an IMAP / STMP account and getting an error saying the set up is incorrect. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. You've done a great job trying to get this resolved so far. If you haven't already, we recommend that you contact Google support to confirm the settings are correct and compatible with iOS 10.
