I can only use my macbook as extended display, but want also to use my imac as extended display (iMac 2017).
Can anyone help me with that, please?

Compatibility
To use your Mac as an AirPlay target, it’s best to be running macOS Monterey with a:

Correct.
FWIW, Luna Display may work. I've never used it so you might want to inquire first.
