Going to a new carrier, do I completely erase my iphone

I am changing carriers, I have backed up my iphone, now do I complete erase it before using new SIM card?

Assuming the iPhone is carrier-unlocked (see link below), shouldn’t need to do anything other than the SIM swap, or load a new eSIM.
