i did as instructed and pressed option command r and p and the screen went to a blinking file with a question mark and then the screen went blank… HELP!!!

Usually, I suggest preforming this action 3 times consecutively and only after the third time release the key combinations.

If you get a flashing question mark folder, it means it cannot find the startup volume. NVRAM reset might fix it, but if not try booting into Recovery, run First Aid in Disk Utility, then set the Startup Disk…
i did as instructed and now the screen has a flashing file with a question mark. what do i do now??
