Using iPhone 13 texting is very slow

For me I begin a new text message on my iPhone 13proMax (Wi-Fi or cell connection doesn’t matter) and there is a 6-10 second delay in the ‘To’ field when typing the persons name. Just started happening the last 2months Very annoying.

Same phone, same issue. When typing the persons name out who you’re going to send the text to, the entire phone freezes and becomes unresponsive. This just started happening recently. I continue to buy brand new iPhones, and I continue to have more issues with the newest phones.

Same here. Happens when I try to share stuff from TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, etc. I prompt to share, the native Messages app pops up, I start to type the person’s name and there’s at least a 3-4 second gap (sometimes more) before it auto-populates the contacts. Sometimes the keyboard disappears while I’m waiting so I can’t even fix if I’ve made a typo. Very frustrating.

When you say that texting is slow, are you referring to the typing speed or the time it takes to send and/or receive the message? Are you seeing this behavior in the Messages app only or another app you use to text? Does it happen when you're connected to Wi-Fi, cellular, or both? Knowing these things can help us isolate the issue so we can create the best plan to help.

Thanks for the info. Does this happen on the keyboard for any other apps? Do you have a screen protector on your iPhone? If so, have you removed it to see if the issue persists?

My iPhone 13 pro has delays texting. Typing the persons name is anywhere from a 5-15 second delay to get their name typed. I hate this phone. What a huge disappointment. I want my iPhone 11 back

Above I just randomly pulled a tiktok in passing as evidence. I typed the name on the first image above, I counted at least 3 seconds before they keyboard disappeared and 5 seconds before “mom” popped up after typing it.

Me too! I’ve actually been texting Apple Support today and they’re supposed to call me about the issue. I do have a video of the issue as well, so if someone at Apple could see it, they’ll finally see it for themselves. Very frustrating and not good for the Apple community!

Well I text chatted with a person for a little while. They referred me to another individual who called me twice back to back when I couldn’t talk, and then they closed my ticket an hour later. Left no voice message, no call back number, nothing. Ridiculous!

I have this same problem. I just noticed that recently my camera is on when I am using messages (the self facing camera light is on). I'm wondering if this is slowing it down. I don't want to disable my camera for taking pictures to send to people, but it doesn't need to be recording my face while I am typing messages. My guess is this may be the delay, but I can't figure out how to stop that.

I’ve never received a response. This phone is 40 days old. I hate it and want to throw it in the trash. Apparently Apple wants us to buy the phones but doesn’t care when hundreds of people have the same problem 🥴 do better Apple. Address and fix this problem.

Same thing just started happening to mine when attaching a picture to send an sms. Takes up to 5-7 secs then the name field eventually text appears. Very annoying. Phone has plenty of space but acting as though it’s very slow
