Key commands to 'trigger' objects on a slide

Is it possible to assign key commands to trigger say the build of specific elements on a slide? For example if a slide had three shapes on it, each with a build in to appear and a build out to disappear, can these animations be triggered from the keyboard in some way.

So not sequentially, as that is standard presentation behaviour using the space bar to advance from one to the next. What I am after is something like:

keyboard command 1 - triggers element 1 build in (appear)

keyboard command 2 - triggers element 1 build out (disappear)

keyboard command 3 - triggers element 2 build in (appear)

keyboard command 4 - triggers element 2 build out (disappear)

..and to be able to trigger in any order (so make object 2 appear first etc)

Hope that makes sense!

Thanks in advance

This can't be done using a keyboard command in Keynote

A workaround is to add a hyperlink to a set of button shapes on a menu slide [slide 4 in the example]

To add a hyperlink, right click a shape, in the popup menu select Add Link /Slide

In play, clicking on the green shape on the menu slide would display the green shape on slide 2
