Ipad keyboard (magic Keyboard)typing several different letters at once.

How do I reset the keyboard to type normally. I have made sure that it is set on US English not automatic and it continues to to type several different letters as if it were a shortcut or word abbreviation of some kind. Not all letters have this issue. I can search something and it just types out jibberish. I have tried all of the fixes posted here. Not sure what to do next. Thank you for your help.
