proximity sensor doesn't work

I'd really appreciate some help. Since I got my iPhone 11 Pro Max over a gear ago, I've inadvertently hung up or muted numerous calls. I thought that this was simply one of those things that I have to deal with. As a result, I usually put the call on speaker phone. I just learned about the proximity sensor that is supposed to keep this from happening. I researched the issue and force started the phone and the software as always, updated. In addition, neither the screen protector or the case covers the top of the screen. Is there any way for me to fix this problem? Thanks.

Hi lmwright1967,

While a case or screen protector may not appear to impact the proximity sensor, we would still recommend removing them and testing the issue again.

The iPhone screen should turn off as you put it up to your ear, and then turn back on when you pull it away while on a call. Cases and screen protectors are common causes of the sensor not working properly.

If the issue persists, we'd recommend contacting Apple Suport to have the device inspected.
