Mailbox

I don't have the Trash mailbox on my sidebar in the Mail program. How can I put the Trash mailbox on to my sidebar list?

MacBook Pro (2020 and later)

Hey Paul,

Could the Trash be hidden within the Mac Mail app? Try hovering your cursor over the sidebar to find out if the dropdown shows up. Learn more here: Use the sidebar or Favorites bar in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

- Show or hide the sidebar: Click Mailboxes in the Favorites bar, or choose View > Show Mailbox List or View > Hide Mailbox List.

- Resize the sidebar: Drag the sidebar’s separator bar left or right. If you drag it all the way to the left, the sidebar is hidden.

Is this happening with a specific email account or for all email accounts, there is no trash icon or folder?

Any recent changes to your Mac?

Yes, unless you Move it there somehow... your Trash must be set to On My Mac instead of the eMail server...

Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Your Account>Mailbox Behaviors, what path is Trash Mailbox set to?

Thank you so much! Trash did appear under On My Mac when I clicked the < button. Then when I expanded it again, it stayed there, which is what I wanted.

Here's another question for you. Under Favorites, there is a mailbox called All Sent. That is where my sent emails are listed. But under On My Mac, the Sent mailbox is always empty. Is that the way it should be?
