Apple One vs Family Sharing

I’m not very tech savvy, and I can’t really tell what the better deal is: Apple One or Family Sharing? Can anyone help me with this? It’s just my husband and I that will be using it, but we both have additional apple products. He has an old iPhone he sometimes uses, an iPhone 12, AirPods, and an iPad. I have an iPhone 12, MacBook Pro, Apple Watch, and an old iPad I barely ever use.

Apple One and Family Sharing work together. You don't choose one or the other.

Family sharing lets you share things like purchases and subscriptions with other Family members, such as an Apple One subscription package.

You need Family Sharing to share the Apple One subscription with your husband.

Family Sharing itself is free. It lets you share individual subscriptions or the packaged Apple One which includes various subscriptions.

If you mean what is the better deal between sharing Apple One or sharing individual subscriptions through Family Sharing, then definitely Apple One.

Apple One will be cheaper than getting all the individual subscriptions it includes.

What is Family Sharing? - Apple Support

As Phil0124 outlines, they aren't the same thing. Apple One lets you bundle Apple subscriptions (non-Apple subscriptions are up to the vendor to decide if they wish to offer some sort of family plan). Family Sharing lets then share family level subscriptions with other members of the family group (plus share other purchases and free things such as photo, etc.). You can't share individual level subscriptions but you can share other purchases and items. You can then get an additional discount if you get a family level subscription and share it using Family Sharing. If you both use multiple items with Apple subscriptions then it makes sense to get a family level plan and use Family Sharing to share the plan. I haven't priced out individual items so I don't know about saving if, say, you were only interested in an Apple Music subscription and he was only interested in 50 GB iCloud storage. You can do the arithmetic on that one but I have the feeling that in that particular case it would make sense for each person to have their own . ;-)
