iCloud photos still won’t sync after storage upgrade

I made the mistake of filming a 5gb video while my iCloud storage space was low. Now even though I have deleted the video AND upgraded my storage to 2TB my photos continues to tell me that I don’t have enough storage to upload to iCloud. :/

My phone still has 63GB of open storage space on it, so I don’t think that’s the issue. I’ve restarted my phone, had it plugged in while locked, checked my wifi and turned my data off, etc. but nothing seems to budge it from telling me I don’t have enough storage space when I clearly do?

How can I fix this issue?

Hello, haintzone.

Let's start off by checking the helpful steps in this article: If you can't back up to iCloud. This offers some help with that message. If you go to Settings > [tap your name at the top] > iCloud > Manage Storage > Backups, you can see a listing of devices that are backed up (or trying to back up) to iCloud. This might give you a clue if there are other devices that might have filled your storage space.

Have you deleted the video from your Recently Deleted folder in Photos? If yes, was your iPhone restarted after doing so? If not, please take both steps now then try again.

Let us know if we can help with anything else at all or if this doesn't settle your issue. Thanks and have a fabulous day!
