Apple Pay does not work on MacBook Air M1 after motherboard replaced

Hello,

As the title says, my MBA M1 had an issue with kernel panic errors and pink screen, got motherboard replaced + Touch ID and now Apple Pay it's refusing to work. It says the card could not be added and I should try again or contact the bank.

I have contacted the bank, they checked everything and they said it's not their fault. And I totally agree because no matter what credit/debit card I try to add, I get the same error.

It's strange because the same credit card works fine on my iPhone with Apple Pay and before I had the motherboard replaced, everything was fine here as well.

I contacted also Apple in my country, but they are pretty unprepared and did not solve my issue (they tried to provide multiple solutions like resetting SMC and NVRME or how it's called - for Intel versions, even though I specifically said it's an M1).

Tried to log out/ log in on Apple ID and also tried to remove the Apple Pay card from iCloud.com but the card there stays on the deletion pending.

Thank you for your suggestions !

Update : I have managed to get in touch with a great guy from Apple Support and after multiple conversations and data gatherings I found out that it's an internal Apple bug with Apple Pay affecting multiple users which hopefully will be fixed via next updates.

Maybe this is helpful to anybody who is facing same annoying issue as I do.

Hello cosmin18,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

Please try these steps to add your card:

"Learn what steps to take if you can't add a card to the Wallet app to use with Apple Pay.

  1. Check that you're able to use Apple Pay:

2. Check for services outages or connection issues.

3. If you see the message "Could Not Add Card" or "Invalid Card," contact your bank or card issuer."

This Apple Support page has the full details: If you can't add a card to Apple Wallet to use with Apple Pay - Apple Support

If the issue continues, please reach out to an Apple Support Advisor for further assistance: Get Support

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
