I have two Home Pod's and when I try and manually adjust the volume on 1 of them (using the +/- buttons on the device) I am told I need to update my Apple Subscription in order to do that. I don't have an apple subscription and don't want one.
So far the only way to get this device to work is to unplug it and start over; every day!

Are the HomePods connected in stereo mode? As so, they will act like they are one speaker.
I have two HomePods mini, but not in stereo mode and I can use the volume settings separate
No, not connected in stereo mode.
This is my 3rd reset and setup since I purchased them new. Working again, today.
