Signing out of IPad after the ICloud account has been deleted

My brother gifted me an Ipad (5th generation) that he purchased. He deleted the ICloud account associated with this IPad before I had a chance to sign out from his Apple ID, using the password that he gave me. So I am locked in to the current Apple ID because ICloud does not recognise the name.


How can I now re-set the IPad so I can enter my Apple ID?

Since the account is unrecoverably “gone” …


… the ONLY way will be for your brother (the original purchaser) to submit an Activation Lock Support Request as outlined below.

Note that during the previous AppleID account deletion process, your brother was repeatedly warned to sign-out of ALL devices precisely to prevent this situation.
