Thanks KT,

The option to delete emails only on the device was a security option. It afforded the user the ability to carry only those emails on the phone that were necessary without jeopardizing any content on the server or requiring onerous folder manipulation or exposing other mail account server content.

That feature wasn't part of the IMAP standard. It was managed through BB's email servers.

Thanks KT,

Actually BB fully abided by the IMAP standard. The option to delete emails only on the device was a security option. It afforded the user the ability to carry only those emails on the phone that were necessary without jeopardizing any content on the server or requiring onerous folder manipulation or exposing other mail account server content.

Thanks. Actually, the standard is not impacted. As a device-specific user option, nothing in the standard is impacted. The user is Not prohibited from using IMAP in the usual manner, with full coordination. I have used this device specific option for many years with Zero impact to my email account, or server communication. Emails that are opened - communicated. Emails that are sent-communicated. It gives me a security option that Apple, as yet, doesn't.
