Apple TV Remote on MacOS

Just pulling up a question from a couple of years ago . . .to paraphrase " I don't understand why the Apple TV remote isn't available on M1 MacOS when its available on iOS and iPadOS." It's because Apple wants us to buy iPads in addition to iPhones and Macs. I've been an Apple only user since the 80s. But this kind of stuff is wearing thin on me. Cannot Apple give us the Apple TV remote on MacOS on M1 Macs? I'm not gonna buy an iPad just so I can use the Apple TV remote on a iPad. Please Apple, cannot you give us the remote on MacOS?
