Cant delete mail storage on Iphone

Im trying to free up a bit of space on my phone, I use a different mail app so ive been trying to delete the native Iphone one because for some reason it is taking up 5 gigabytes. When I hit delete it will load for a moment, take me back to the previous screen, and clear none of the storage. In addition the corresponding mail icon has disappeared. Ive done this maybe 15 times, ive tried restarting my phone and retrying but nothing is working. Ive included pictures for clarification.

Try this. Download the mail app again to your home screen, find the mail app there, then "long press" on the Mail icon and select Delete.

I can see on your Screenshots that you have enabled the Battery Save feature, just try disabling it and try again. Some apps do not update when the battery saving feature is enabled.
