It's really weird, I tried to update it to the latest iOS version 15.5 as well but it still doesn't work. I try to turn on the iMessage button in settings but it keeps sliding back off..
unfortunately I can not share a screen recording here so I can't show what it looks like but basically I just try to turn on iMessage by sliding the button to the right but it keeps popping back..
