My iPhone nd iPad are going in for repair. Do i need to back up content from each: iPhone and iPad to the iCloud?

Do I need to back up content to iCloud for both IPad and IPhone? Or will back up to iCloud for IPhone automatically include iPad? And vice versa.

iPad 2, iOS 9

I do both, for belt & suspenders protection. I also have automatic backups enabled, so my phone is backed up every night to iCloud when it is plugged in overnight and connected to Wi-Fi.

Note that a computer backup must be encrypted, or sensitive data such as passwords and health data will be excluded. But don’t forget the backup password, because there is no way to recover it.
