Why are MacBook Pros hot to the touch when sleeping?

Lately, I have had many MacBook Pros hot to the touch when I go to use them in the morning. Some are draining the battery when left on sleep for the day.

I have had (2) 16" MacBook Pros end up with a cracked screen after they were closed and put into laptop bags. Apple replaced both under warranty. On all of them a mysterious process keeps waking the machines. I have used iStat Menus to track this and see that the computer will wake up at odd hours of the night when all peripherals are off.

This keeps showing up...

powerd: [powerd:sleepWake] Wake reason: "<private>"  identity: "<private>"

What is this "private" process and user and why is it running during sleep?

Can't use Apple Silicon yet, so Intel only. 10.15 and 11.

Power Nap is enabled, turning that off on mine to see if that does the trick. Looks like my MBP woke itself for over 10 minutes when I first woke up this morning and checked email on my iPhone. Which is kind of annoying because the MBP will then run rules and move emails to folders On My Mac before I can see them on my iPhone.

Maybe Power Nap is too crude of a setting and should have options for what services one allows to wake the Mac.
