I am trying to download a version of iTunes . My greater issue is that I need to Wipe out an old ipad

Download iTunes to what model / year of Mac? What macOS version is it running?
If you are run-in macOS 10.15.x Catalina, 11.x Big Sur or 12.x Monterey, there is no version of iTunes for it.
