Can I use Macbook Air while charging when battery is fully charged?

I have a Macbook Air M1 2020. Until now I have been charging it fully, then unplugging from the power outlet and using it until the battery gets to low battery percentage at which point I plug it again to the power outlet for charging. But I am getting the sense that I was charging it wrong the whole time. I recently read that even if the battery is 100% charged, keeping the macbook plugged in and using it will actually reduce the number of battery charge cycles and thereby slow battery ageing! Please tell me which is the better of the 2 ways to preserve battery life.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.4

As a general rule of thumb: If you are near an AC outlet, use it on AC power. If you need portability, use it on battery power. Your previous method would indeed rapidly increase the battery cycles.
